(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full-fledged game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know whether or not it’s worth your time/money.)
Turbo Mixtape is retro-style arcade racer by Bekho Team that was released last week and unfortunately, it didn’t get half the attention it deserves. The pixel art vaporwave aesthetics are of course, the first thing that stood out to me. The game is absolutely beautiful to look at. But, the gameplay is what kept me playing. Every race is randomly generated, so there’s technically unlimited gameplay. Each race is brutally hard and makes you work for it. Drifting definitely takes awhile to master. Luckily, you can upgrade your vehicles if things are too tough for you. There’s quite a bit packed into this game. You can unlock 12 different cars and 8 motorcycles, along with 6 new drivers. Turbo Mixtape is of course, free to play, so there are 2 types of currency to deal with. I still feel that the mechanics are pretty fair. I’ve been having a lot of fun with this one. If you’re a fan of arcade racers, then Turbo Mixtape is a must-have.
