(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really a full-fledged game review as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)
Gigantic X is a top-down sci-fi shooter by ActionSquare that recently released on the App Store. There was a lot of hype surrounding this game while it was in beta. You play as a band of drifters that are helping the Galactic Alliance fight the resistance for the continued growth of humanity. So, you’re basically a “hired gun”. The game itself looks and plays beautifully. The visuals are some of the best I’ve seen on mobile and the controls are really smooth during all the action. It’s a highly polished game with some really cool character designs. Unfortunately, the game is hampered by the usual F2P (free to play) mechanics. I could honestly write an entire article on all the “extras” in the game. You have an energy timer, multiple currencies, fuel packs, different “ore” for crafting, loot crates, revive coins, daily/weekly currency doublers, time limited sales, IAPs, the list goes on. The storefront is absolutely huge in this game! It’s a shame because Gigantic X could have been a contender for Game of the Year. Instead, it’s just another F2P game.
Gigantic X is also in this week’s SNAPP Roundup!
