(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)
Restless Dungeon is a hack & slash roguelike game by indie developer, Silas Friedrich. The game is a bare-bones dungeon crawler with no story and low poly visuals…….but it’s actually kind of fun! You run around dark caverns hunting down orks, mages, golems, and whatever else you can find. Controls are pretty simple with a left v-stick and an attack button. As you progress, you’ll earn experience and be able to unlock new powers and skills to use. You can also collect coins and find new weapons throughout your run. Once you die, you’ll lose everything except your coins. You can use those coins to level up or buy new characters at the beginning of your next run. Restless Dungeon is far from perfect though. It’s a bit of a grind to earn coins and almost feels too easy the first few dungeons. Regardless, Restless Dungeon is still a solid little roguelike. The developer did a pretty good job with the game and should be recognized for their work. If you’re a fan of hack & slash games or roguelikes, you may end up liking this one.
