(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)
I love me some crazy physics-based games! The crazier the physics, the better. Cartoon Sports: Summer Games is a physics-based Olympics inspired title by indie developer, Sergey Kharitonov. There’s steeplechase, shooting, diving, cycling, pole vault, long jump, high jump, hammer throw, and javelin throw. Each game has its own crazy physics and controls. What had me laughing out loud to myself was that the game doesn’t tell you how to play each game. So, you’re basically flailing around, trying to figure out what the hell to do. I really should have recorded or streamed my first try on everything. There’s no tournament or anything deep. You can actually play every game right up front. Luckily, there’s GameCenter leaderboards, so you have global times to play against. Cartoon Sports is definitely not perfect, but it’s a hell of a lot of fun. You have 9 different games to mess around with and can customize your character if you so choose. (I used my character for the cover and screenshot. It’s like looking in the mirror.) If you’re in the mood for some laugh out loud physics and have 66.5MB of room to spare, give Cartoon Sports a try.
