(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)
End of the Universe is a fast-paced roguelike shooter and indie developer, Kyle Barrett’s third game on the App Store. In this one, you control a star fighter as you try and stay alive in outer space. Like in Kyle’s last title, End of the Universe features a branching story where you can choose your own destiny. Every decision that you make in the game changes up the narrative and environments. As far as gameplay goes, End of the Universe has you dodging asteroids and shooting down dozens of different enemies and bosses. I’ve been loving every minute of this gem so far. It’s one of those games that gets better the more you play. It’s hard to even grasp the sheer scope of this game until you’ve sunk some time into it. There’s literally thousands of randomly generated ships to unlock and upgrade, dozens of environments, over 70 skills/weapons, and a whole lot more. What I really liked is that the game can be played in small bursts. With everything mentioned above and all the replay value this game has, End of the Universe is definitely worth picking up.
