(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Speed Dating for Ghosts is a dialogue-driven game that recently got ported over to the App Store by Copychaser Games. This is one of those titles that I almost took a pass on. I’m normally not a huge fan of doing a lot of reading in games. Luckily I took a chance on this one. The game is basically what it says it is. You’re speed dating 3 ghosts at a time with 2 rounds of each ghost. You can use the branching dialogue to get to know each one and pick out which ghost you’d like to date at the end of the session. If that ghost likes you, then you can go out on a date with them. It’s a weird concept and gets even weirder once you start playing. The writing is really well done. Things can go from funny, to morbid depending on the date. Yea, things felt a little odd at first when I went out on my first date with a male football player, but he was just a big softy and treated me nice. My second date unfortunately didn’t go as well. Each ghost has their own unique backstory and attitude. Not to mention, you can play over each date and pick different dialogues if things didn’t go well. I ended up really liking this game. It’s funny, witty, and a whole lot of awkward. Most of all, Speed Dating for Ghosts is entertaining. I definitely recommend this one if you’re looking for something different.
