(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Wilderless is the newest installment from solo indie developer, Protopop. Those who have never played any of Protopop’s games, he makes some of the most beautiful digital worlds that I’ve ever seen on the platform. This game is a bit different due to it not really being the definition of an actual “game”. Wilderless is more of a zen-like experience than anything else. A title that focuses on exploration and relaxation. There’s no missions, no killing, no story. Just a virtual stick, a jump button, and about 250 square kilometers of open world. Everything from snow capped mountains to lush green forests. You can row a boat across small ponds, skate around on frozen lakes, and even fly through the skies as a hawk. I’ve had a great time with Wilderless so far. It’s absolutely beautiful to look at and a really calming experience when you’re just laying around trying to relax. Sure, it may not be for everyone, but if you like exploring a gorgeous open world with a ton of options to tinker with, Wilderless is a “not-game” that’s definitely worth experiencing.
Wilderless is also in this week’s iOS Roundup!
