On The Radar: Touchdowners 2

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Touchdowners 2 is the sequel to the 2017 hit by indie developer Colin Lane and team. Those of you that haven’t played the original, Touchdowners is a 2D arcade (American) football game with over-the-top physics that everyone has come to love from Colin Lane games. You’re basically thrown on the field with 5 other players as you knock a football around and try to get it into each other’s endzone with only a jump button and two arrows. This time around, there is quite a bit more depth to the game. First off, you have jump and tackle buttons and the physics are way more wonky (in a good way). The visuals also received an upgrade. The biggest thing is that there is a full worldwide league system where you can work your way up the leaderboards. Teams seem to be randomly generated. I’m guessing it’s a mixture of bots and real players at the moment. In true sequel fashion, the development team took everything we loved about the original Touchdowners and cranked it up to 11. There’s just so much added to this little game. 40 different teams to unlock and upgrade, 15 different stadiums, and a whole lot of fun. Touchdowners 2 is looking to be another instant classic when it finally launches worldwide.

(Game is currently in soft launch in the US. Some things may change before worldwide launch.)

  1. I’ve been playing in the US and the game is the best ever!! I really want to be able to play with friends and hope they bring that feature in the future. I have been looking everywhere online and there is no community for this game yet but hopefully when it is fully released then there will be one!
