(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Mr. Pumpkin 2: Walls of Kowloon is a point & click adventure game by indie developer Cotton Game under the Lilith Games umbrella. You play as a pumpkin headed gentleman as he explores every nook and cranny of the over populated ghetto that is Kowloon Walled City. You spend a lot of your time talking to residents, listening to stories, and helping them when in need. I absolutely love the characters and artwork in this game. There’s quite a few tricky puzzles to figure out, but so far I haven’t come across any that have stumped me. Some puzzles will have you just searching around for a certain item, while others have actual puzzle mechanics. It’s actually a good mix. I’ve been really liking Mr. Pumpkin 2 so far. I’ve also learned a lot about the real Kowloon Walled City that was actually torn down in the 90’s. Mr. Pumpkin 2 is a great “middle of the road” point & click adventure. It’s not too easy, yet not too difficult. I will say that I switched over from playing on an iPhone to an iPad. The game plays fine on both devices, but the text and some items can seem a bit small on the iPhone. Regardless, I’ve really been enjoying my time with Mr. Pumpkin 2: Walls of Kowloon so far. If you’re at all a fan of point & click/adventure games, you should definitely pick this one up.
