(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
As you all know, I love finding me the odd game or two on the App Store. Not too long ago, I ran across this game called Dragon Walled City. It had horrible screenshots, a super short description, and of course, the confusing title. I downloaded the game anyway and to my surprise, it’s really good!! It’s a top-down fighting game with a bit of sim management thrown in for good measure. You play as an unnamed fighter as you take on different gangs to claim their turf and take the city back. Once you start taking over, you can unlock shops that’ll earn you money while you’re not playing. Now, I’ll be the first to say that this game isn’t perfect. The visuals are really rough around the edges and the v-stick/button combo takes a bit getting used to. But, it’s grown on me over the past couple weeks of playing off and on. DWC reminds me of a couple old PS1 games that I used to play back in the day. (I can’t remember their names at the moment.) You don’t see top-down fighters very often. I ended up really digging Dragon Walled City. You may end up loving it, you may end up hating it. Regardless, it’s worth checking out.
