The Swingers’ Guide iOS SNAPP REVIEW!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

I always like when a game surprises me. I know that SNAPP is all about covering games that don’t get coverage, but with so many titles out there, even I’m known to pass up a game or two. Luckily, I went back to this one after originally skipping over it. The Swingers’ Guide is a side scroller that released a couple weeks ago by the team at Wonderfull. Without spoiling too much, you play as a couple that are on their way to a “swingers party” at the old Dangledown Hall. Unfortunately, it’s not that kind of party and your partner winds up missing. You spend most of your time exploring the old mansion avoiding traps and looking for clues. The controls are as simple as tapping the screen to jump and tapping again to swing. Things feel a bit wonky at first. The Swingers’ Guide plays like an auto-runner, so missing that door or clue will have you figuring out a way to change your character’s direction. It can be a bit frustrating, but it’s all part of the charm. I’ve been really enjoying this game so far. There’s all sorts of rooms to find and secrets to uncover. Not to mention, the writing is really witty. The Swingers’ Guide may take a few to warm up to you, but it’s well worth your time if you stick with it. It’s funny, charming, and plays best when naked.
