(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Minute Rogue is Mitsuhiro Okada’s recent installment in the “Minute” series on the App Store. Minute Rogue is basically a level-based RPG with a pinch of roguelike elements. You play as one of several heroes as you fight your way to the 100th floor of the dungeon. It’s all about grinding and leveling up in this game. You can find coins and purchase new weapons on each run, but once you die, you’ll lose everything you’ve collected outside of your experience you’ve earned. Minute Rogue can be a total grindfest for some players. It’s a lot of playing through the first couple dozen floors over and over. But, I’ve been having a lot of fun with the game so far! It’s casual enough to play mindlessly while someone is talking to you and you’re pretending that you’re listening, but has enough depth to keep you interested. There’s also quite a bit of secrets to find and things to unlock. So, if you’re a fan of RPG’s or roguelikes, I highly recommend this little pixel art gem.
