(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Demon Survival is a level based survival game that was released back in October by indie developer, Ruben Pecellin. Demon Survival is basically a roguelike RPG similar to the Survivor.io games that have been popular lately. What’s nice about this game is that it does away with a story or any kind of extra fluff and goes straight to the core gameplay. Each level has you taking on hordes of enemies as you collect coins and orbs and try to stay alive. Orbs will give you experience letting you temporarily upgrade your character during each level. The coins you collect go towards permanently upgrading your character in between levels. Levels vary in how you complete them. Some may have you surviving a certain amount of time, while others will have you killing X amount of enemies. Even though they all have different challenges, they all feel pretty much the same. You’re basically trying to survive until the end of the level. Regardless, I’ve been having a lot of fun with Demon Survival. Even though the genre is starting to become a bit saturated with these survival games, I’ve really appreciated this one. The game isn’t pushing you to purchase IAPs, there’s no daily check-ins, it’s just pick up, play and have fun. So, if you’re a fan of one-handed survival games like Survivor.io, definitely give Demon Survival a try.
