(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Delving Deep is a side scrolling RPG by Eiger Entertainment that was released on the App Store back in November. You play as either Rekker or Thora as you try to unlock the secrets of the mysterious Mount Gorghul. Delving Deep is one of those games that grow on you the more you play it. Sure, it may be a little rough around the edges. It might not look the prettiest and the controls take a bit to get used to, but that’s all part of this game’s charm. What struck me the most was the depth of Delving Deep. (I think there’s a pun there somewhere.) There are tons of skills and abilities to unlock, secrets to find, NPCs to talk to, and a lot more! It’s a full RPG wrapped in a 2.5D side scroller. The game pays homage to RPGs of the past, so it can be brutally hard at first without a lot of the modern conveniences that we’re used to nowadays. But, that’s honestly what I liked about this game. If you’re a fan of old school RPGs or want a game with a little meat on its bones, Delving Deep is definitely worth picking up. Not to mention, the developer has been active with constant updates and fixes since release and it’s actually on sale at the moment!
