(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
1-Bit Marcos is a single button platformer by Ghost Creative that was recently released on the App Store. You play as Marco as you lead him through a number of pixel art dungeons. The game itself is a pretty standard level-based game. The object is to get to the end of each level by pulling your thumb back and aiming where you want Marcos to go. I will say that 1-Bit Marco is not easy though. You’ll be replaying levels over and over due to its difficulty at times. At the end of each level, you are shown your time it took to make it through the level, how many moves you made, and how many coins you picked up throughout the level. Unfortunately, none of this information means anything. There are no leaderboards to complete for times and/or turns and there are no stores to spend your coins. 1-Bit Marcos is a good game that just needs a little extra if it wants to be great.
