(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Brotato is a top-down survival game that was recently released on the App Store by Erabit Studio. The game has you taking the control of a lone potato as you take on hordes of alien enemies. I was hesitant at first to pick this game up. The top-down survival genre has been saturated lately and I didn’t think that I could play another one right now. Luckily, Brotato is a fairly good game! Sure, it’s not bringing a whole lot new to the genre. You’re basically fighting off waves of aliens and trying to survive as long as possible. In between each wave you can purchase new weapons and buffs to stack on top of each other for the next wave. What keeps Brotato fresh is all of its content. There are 30+ characters all with their own unique stats, 46+ weapons, and over 150 items to collect. So, you’re constantly seeing something new as you progress. Brotato is a solid survival game that’s unfortunately in a saturated market. It may not stray too far from the usual top-down survival formula, but the shooting is satisfying and there is enough content to keep you playing for quite some time.
