(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
This is a game that I was really looking forward to when I saw the first screenshots of it. Fake Future is a sci-fi city builder by developer Game Duchy that was recently released on the App Store. I’m not going to try to pretend that I know the story. The game takes place in an alternate future where AI surpassed humanity and have kind of taken on a world of their own. The lore is really deep in this game, but unfortunately with some English translation issues (and probably a bit of my stupidity) most of it is over my head. As far as the gameplay goes, Fake Future is a pretty standard city builder in the beginning. You’ll build power stations, stores, apartments, etc. As you complete quests, you can level up and expand your city vertically and horizontally. The game really doesn’t start picking up until after about an hour or so into the game. It takes a while, but eventually you’ll go out on missions and start exploring while following the main story. There is honestly so much stuff going on in this game that it’s hard to fit in a quick SNAPP Review. Fake Future is a really cool game that would’ve been better as a paid title. With so much going on in the main story, dealing with timers, VIP passes, daily logins, multiple currencies, special events, etc makes it almost too much to keep track of and hampers the experience. If you’re a fan of cyberpunk/sci-fi stories and don’t mind dealing with the F2P stuff, Fake Future might be the game for you.
