(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Pinball Vs Solitaire is a pinball/card game mashup that was recently released on the App Store by Aaro Arts. PvS is exactly what the title describes. It’s a pinball game where the object is to hit the cards on the table and stack all 52 cards before losing the ball. Each level changes up the card placement and adds new obstacles to keep things fresh. As you progress, you’ll pick up coins that you can use to purchase new balls. That’s where my only problem lies in this game. Even though Pinball Vs Solitaire is a lot of fun, you just don’t earn enough coins to purchase anything in the shop. New balls range from 1000 to 5000 coins and I’m averaging 4-5 coins per play. So, you’re talking roughly 200 plays just to purchase the cheapest ball. It just seems like a way to push the player to purchase coin packs via IAPs. (There’s a slot machine you can play after beating a level to possibly earn extra currency.) Outside of the monetization, Pinball Vs Solitaire is a pretty solid game. The concept is unique and the gameplay loop is fun. I would have liked to have seen more items in the shop (i.e. new bumpers, themes, etc) and cheaper prices, but it’s not a deal breaker. If you’re a fan of pinball games, Pinball Vs Solitaire is worth picking up.
