Starship Survivor is a roguelike SHMUP game that was recently released on the App Store by Brainium Games. Similar to games like Survivor.io, Starship Survivor has you taking on hordes of enemies as you try to stay alive as long as possible. During each run, you’ll collect gems and coins from shooting down enemy ships, asteroids, and aliens. Gems are used for temporarily upgrading your weapons during that run. Coins are used in the hangar for permanent upgrades in between plays. The auto-aim/shoot mechanic works well as you move your ship via a single joystick. Starship Survivor is a pretty solid sci-fi themed survival game. There are plenty of weapons and upgrades to keep you busy. The game may not be bringing a whole lot new to the genre, but if it’s not broken, then why try to fix it? This is Brainium’s first non-puzzle/card game and I think they did an excellent job. If you’re looking for a new survival games, Starship Survivor is worth checking out.
