Bustin is an on-rails arcade shooter by Mad Carnival that was recently released on the App Store. You play as Jesse and his mom as they travel the world……delivering toilet paper? I’m guessing this concept was created during the whole covid toilet paper craze a couple of years ago. Anyway, as your vehicle drives around parking lots, side streets, and more, you’ll need to shoot at crazy Karens, Zoomers, Boomers, and Twatters as they chase after you trying to steal your toilet paper. You have a limited amount of ammo (rolls), so you have to be precise in your shooting until you reach a refill point. Once you run out of ammo, it’s game over. Bustin may have a cheesy (and kind of dated) theme, but it’s actually a pretty solid arcade shooter. The controls are simple, the visuals are charming, and there’s a ton of polish. You can unlock new worlds and a bunch of new vehicles each with their own unique stats. There’s even a journal that keeps track of all the characters, vehicles, locations, and power-ups that you’ve bought or unlocked. I will say that the game can feel a bit repetitive after a little while. So, short bursts of play are probably best. Regardless, if you’re looking for a fun little time waster, Bustin is worth checking out.
