Tap Tap Shmup is an endless shooter game that was recently released on the App Store by Korean developer Yunwhan Kim. Like most vertical shmups, you control a spaceship while you take on waves of incoming enemies. It’s pretty standard stuff. But there’s something about this game that keeps me playing. TTS has a unique mix of role playing, shooter, and idle mechanics. There’s no story, no ending (that I know of), and no levels. It’s just endless waves of enemies that rain down on you as you collect coins and upgrade. That’s where the fun is in this game. There are tons of different weapons and skills that you can combine and upgrade to make the perfect machine. As you progress, you’ll unlock new challenges for a chance at more powerful weapons. Tap Tap Shmup isn’t going to blow everyone away. The game is lacking any type of tutorial, so you have to kind of poke around to figure things out for yourself. Also, things can get pretty repetitive after a while. There’s not much else to do outside of shooting and upgrading. But, for some (like me) Tap Tap Shmup can be a really fun time killer. If you are a fan of shmups or idle games (and have a bit of patience) Tap Tap Shmup is worth checking out.
