Alright, this is one of the rare one or two times a year that I review a sports game. I’m not really a fan of watching sports, but I do kind of like playing sports games for some reason. Anyway, New Star Games just released their newest game in their “Retro” series. Retro Bowl College is exactly what it says that it is. It’s the college version of their Retro Bowl game. RBC plays very similar to RB. You play as the head coach of a team of your choice. So, all major decisions are made by you including playing offense during games. The tap & drag controls are still there and as tight as ever. What’s different about Retro Bowl College besides having all 250 teams along with all bowl games is the fact that you’ll need to keep an eye on your player’s GPA. If their GPA starts getting low, you’ll need to bench players to give them more time to study. If their GPA gets too low, they can be pulled from the team. It’s an interesting concept adding a totally different strategy to the game. You’ll also need to keep an eye on fan morale and scholarship funds and upgrade when possible. Retro Bowl College is a welcome addition to the series. There’s enough differences between the two football games to have both on your device. If you’re a fan of football games, Retro Bowl College is definitely worth digging into.
