Bug Heroes: Tower Defense is a spin-off of the Bug Heroes series and the newest game by Foursaken Media. This time around, our bug heroes are trying to guard their food pile from the evil…..umm, other bugs. The game plays similar to most tower defense-style games. You set up your towers along the enemy’s path and try to guard your castle (food pile) by any means necessary. What makes BH:TD unique is that you have full control over your hero. So, while strategizing towers and upgrades, you’re also running around the playing field attacking enemies yourself. It’s a cool mixture of action, strategy, and defense. As you progress, you’ll level up your hero’s stats and abilities. You’ll also level up and unlock all sorts of new towers. Bug Heroes: Tower Defense is packed with content. There are 10 different heroes to unlock, dozens of towers, and a pretty meaty single player campaign. I will say that the game runs a bit hot when playing on the iPhone 13. I’d also recommend playing on an iPad if possible. The screen can get a little cramped at times. I’ve sunk in a few hours into the campaign and have been having a lot of fun with it though. My only real issue is the confusing F2P mechanics. Luckily, there are no timers, but you have coins for upgrading, gems as a premium currency, then keys for unlocking new levels. Along with the usual loot boxes and a battle pass, it just kind of taints the charm that were used to with Foursaken Media’s games. Unfortunately, that’s the world we’re living in right now and developers need to eat. So, I understand. Regardless, Bug Heroes: Tower Defense is an gem that must be checked out!
