(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Mini Zombies is an action-stealth game that was recently released on the App Store by French developer Julien Percot. This top-down game has you clearing out zombies in the pitch black while trying to reach the top of the leaderboards. Mini Zombie’s campaign consists of 3 different types of missions. Extermination is basically you clearing out all the zombies on the map as fast as possible. Escape is more stealthy as you try to find the exit without trying to be heard. Hold-Up is more of a survival style gameplay. These three gameplay styles are mixed throughout the 40 levels of the campaign. (The first 20 are free with the later locked behind IAPs) The mechanics are simple with your character auto-shooting when you let off the v-stick. This also adds to the stress of each level because you can’t see an enemy until it’s almost right on top of you. So, you have a split second to let off the joystick and shoot. Mini Zombies is far from flawless though. The visuals and UI are primitive, and the game does get a bit repetitive without any sort of progression system. I also felt that the IAPs were a bit high to unlock the rest of the campaign. (two different $2.99 IAPs to unlock the rest of the campaign) Flaws aside, Mini Zombies is a fun little game with some cool ideas. If you’re looking for for a new zombie game to play, this one may be worth checking out.
