Trench Warfare 1917 WW1 Remake is…..well, it’s a remake of SimpleBit Studio’s 2020 game with the same name. If you’ve never played the original game, TW1917 is a real-time strategy game based off of WW1. The campaign has you playing as the French Republic vs the German Empire in the first portion and then the Germans vs the British Empire in the second. The gameplay starts off fairly easy and similar to castle defense-style games. You’re basically dropping as many soldiers as possible onto the battlefield to take over the opposition. The game really starts ramping up around Chapter 2 when you start unlocking new soldiers and learning each unit’s strengths and weaknesses. As you progress, you’ll earn gold coins that you can use to permanently upgrade your unit’s HP, damage, and accuracy. Trench Warfare 1917 is an all around solid RTS game. The pixel art is well done and the campaign is long enough to keep you busy for a little while. There’s also a Sandbox Mode where you can create whatever war you want. I haven’t messed around with it a whole lot, but from what I saw, it seemed very deep with tons of customizations. If you’re a fan of RTS games, Trench Warfare 1917 WW1 Remake is worth checking out!
