Phone Escape: Hopeless is an “escape room” style puzzle game and the first game to hit the App Store by the new team at Enigmaticon. Now, I usually don’t play a lot of puzzle games, but decided to give this one a try after watching the trailers. Hopeless has you waking up in a dark basement with only a phone. A strange person messages you and this is pretty much where the story starts. Hopeless is a mixture of multiple puzzle mechanics that are all woven into a 3D environment. Your phone’s camera and flashlight play a big part in the game and is also your source for moving around. Hopeless is a really unique experience and can even be a bit scary at times. I will say that some of the puzzles can be a bit tough or vague at times. But, take into consideration that I don’t play a lot of puzzle games. (I ended up Googling a couple of the puzzles and luckily found that AppUnwrapper had a walkthrough.) Regardless, Phone Escape: Hopeless is a solid escape-style game with a pretty good story attached. If you’re looking for something unique to play, definitely check this one out.
