Yolky Unbound is a puzzle platformer that was recently released on the App Store by indie developer Hopasha Games. In this game you play as an egg yolk as you travel level to level clearing out a passage for the king. Yolky Unbound starts off pretty slow. You’re basically just trying to get through each level and collect the 3 raspberries scattered throughout. I’ll be honest and say that I almost skipped over this game after playing the first few levels. Luckily, I gave this little gem a second chance because once you get through the first 10 levels or so, Yolky really opens up! Levels become almost Metroidvania-like with secret rooms, multi-tiered levels, and tons of baddies. As you progress, you’ll collect corn that you can use to purchase new characters. There are also hidden artifacts scattered around that you can collect. Things can get a bit tough once in a while, mostly with getting lost in a level. But I was never stuck for more than a minute or two. Yolky Unbound is a solid platformer that’s full of charm. From its unique art style to the relaxing boss’s nova soundtrack, I’ve had a blast. I’m glad I went back to this one. If you’re a fan of platformers, or just want to try something different, Yolky Unbound is definitely worth sticking around for!
