(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Basic Biking is a physics-based biking game that was recently released on the App Store by developer Otto Ojala. It’s a simplistic game with only one objective, get to the end of each level as fast as you can. The controls are just as simple. You have a big button for your left foot and a big button for your right. Alternate tapping the buttons and your character pedals forward. So, I was pretty surprised with all this “simple” stuff going on, how difficult (in a good way) Basic Biking was! I was hooked on this game as soon as I started playing. The loose arcade-y physics makes every run unpredictable. Each level is more frustratingly fun than the last. My only issue is that there wasn’t enough of the game. Unfortunately, Basic Biking only has 7 tracks and you can access them all from the beginning. There are a few different bikes to unlock, but not much else. I would love to see more added to this game. Definitely more levels, and GameCenter Leaderboards would be a nice addition too. Basic Biking is a solid foundation of what could be an absolute gem! But even in its current state, this game definitely needs to be checked out.
