I know that the mobile game industry has been flooded with these survival-style rogulikes as of late, but here me out on this one! Kingdom Survivors is a bit different. Developed by A Plant Standing On A Chair Game Studio, Kingdom Survivors has you base building and conquering the world outside of the usual survival-style gameplay mechanics. I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of Kingdom Survivors. There’s so much to do in this game. The upgrading during each run has you tweaking each ability to your own liking. So, if you choose the “hammer” upgrade, you can also upgrade the speed, amount, and power of the hammers. Each upgrade has its own little skill tree. Mix that with a multitude of other abilities to choose and you’ve got chaos on the screen. In between runs, you can build up your base with all sorts of different buildings to upgrade. Kingdom Survivors brought me back to playing survival-style roguelikes games again. It’s not perfect by any means. I found myself really confused in the beginning with everything going on and the pixel art can feel a bit washed out when you have a lot on the screen. Regardless, Kingdom Survivors is a solid game with tons of depth. If you’re a fan of the genre or are like me and was sick of it, Kingdom Survivors will definitely keep you entertained.
