28 Nights iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

28 Nights is a roguelike tower defense game that was recently released on the App Store by KS Games. The game has you playing as Dave as you try to stay alive for, you guessed it, 28 nights! During the day, the object is to collect as many resources as possible before the sun goes down. Every move you make takes precious time before you need to make it back to the campfire by sundown. Prior to nightfall, you need to use your resources to craft things like weapons, ammo, walls, etc. Once nightfall hits, everything kind of plays out on its own and either you die or live to fight another day. I’ve been on the fence with 28 Nights so far. I love the concept and even the art direction. But, outside of the game being brutally difficult, it feels like there just isn’t enough strategy involved. It all boils down to luck and what kind of world the game randomly generates for you. You only have a few moves that you can make each day, so if you don’t have much around your campfire, you’re pretty much screwed. For what it is, I think 28 Nights is a fun little game. Sure, it’s not perfect. And it can be a bit frustrating at times. But, it’s a unique concept and worthy of your time.
