(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Skybound is a pixel art platformer that was recently released on the App Store by developer Martin Andersson. The game has you playing as a knight as you try to reach the heavens above. Skybound is a simplified game. There are no button combinations to remember and no joystick to move around. It’s all about jumping in this game. You tap and hold where you want to jump and when the power meter is where you want it, you let off the screen. It all seemed fairly simple in the beginning, but once I got past the first couple of checkpoints, the platforming gets really tricky. (Ifound myself wanting to rage-quit a few times!) I’ve been having a lot of fun with Skybound so far. There’s not a whole lot to it, but there’s ton of achievements to complete and unique capes/trails to unlock that’ll keep you busy for a while. I really like the overall vibe of Skybound. (Yea, I said “vibe”.) There’s just something simple and unique that has me hooked right now. So, if you’re looking for something new to play, definitely check this one out!
