(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Knight Runner is a medieval/fantasy-style endless runner that was recently released on the App Store by Stargazers Studios. The game has you playing in first person view as you run through a beautiful fantasy world filled with random encounters. Each run has you racing and collecting coins through tree-filled forests, dark caves, and more. Random encounters can have you bumping into enemies that you’ll need to fight off or somebody that needs you to fetch something for them. The fighting is simplistic, but a lot of fun. As you progress, you’ll complete quests and use your coins to purchase new weapons. There’s also a “Homestead” mechanic where you spend coins to fix up your house in between runs. I’m not really sure what upgrading your house really does outside of it just being something else to spend coins on, but it’s a unique mechanic regardless. Those of you that have been following SNAPP for a while know that I absolutely love endless runners and am kind of a snob when it comes to playing them. But so far, I’m really digging Knight Runner! The game does a great job keeping things from feeling repetitive. My only real issue (outside of not knowing what the Homestead mechanic is for) is that it takes too long to jump into the next run after dying. Regardless, Knight Runner is a solid endless runner with plenty of things to keep you busy. If you’re a fan of the genre, definitely check this one out!
