Dungeon Core: Nuclear Abyss iOS SNAPP Review

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Dungeon Core: Nuclear Abyss is a top-down roguelike that was recently released on the App Store by new developer Talismanic Entertainment. The game has you taking control of a nameless explorer as you try to survive deep in the dungeons of a failed weapons program. Similar to games like Enter the Gungeon, Dungeon Core has you making your way through procedurally generated dungeons while mowing down an endless onslaught of enemies and bosses. As you progress, you’ll earn currency that you can use to upgrade your character’s stats and abilities, weapons, and more. There’s honestly not much else to the game. It’s a pretty standard roguelike dungeon crawler without a lot of bells and whistles. Does that make it a bad game? Absolutely not! Dungeon Core is actually a lot of fun! The controls are pretty tight and the shooting is really satisfying. There may not be a big story or a bunch of extras, but the game makes up for it in fun. My only real issue is the annoying ad that pops up whenever you drop down a floor, but I understand. Developers need to eat! Anyway, if you’re a fan of roguelikes or top-down shooters, definitely check out Dungeon Core!
