Star Force 2050 iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Star Force 2050 is a vertical SHMUP (shoot em up) that released on the App Store a couple months ago under TBG Limited. You play as a lone fighter pilot as you try to take down the evil empire. I’ll be honest, I really didn’t follow the story in this game much. It’s pretty forgettable unfortunately. But, what’s not forgettable is the actual gameplay. Each level has you fighting through multiple waves of enemies. After each wave, you’ll choose one of three stackable power-ups until you eventually reach the boss of that level. Levels are full of destructible environments, beautiful bullet trails, and detailed ships. Boring story aside, Star Force 2050 is an absolutely beautiful shooter with solid controls and satisfying haptics. I was really surprised at how polished everything was. Unfortunately, the game is hindered by greedy F2P mechanics. Two different currencies, a play timer, loot crates, and even limited ad removal IAPs! It’s a shame because even though this game is heavily inspired by Sky Force, it’s still a really solid shooter at its core. Unfortunately, it’s just not worth all the hoops to jump through just to keep playing. Play this one at your own discretion.
