(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio is pixel art 2D platformer by Marcelo Barbosa that was recently published by Fantastico Studio. You play as a boy named Tcheco as he tries to make his way through…..well, through the Castle of Lucio. I guess you could have just read the title and figured that information out! Anyway, TITCOL plays in portrait mode and almost resembles something like the old WarioWare games back in the day. The game flows room by room. Meaning that each screenshot acts as it’s own little level. Most of the time you’re hopping over things and jumping on platforms in order to get a key that gets you to the next screen. Luckily things change up a little once you get past the first 10 levels or so. I actually like this concept. You never know what’s going to happen next. The controls actually work pretty well considering it’s in portrait mode. Having the big A button really helps! All in all, Tcheco in the Castle of Lucio is a solid little game with some cute humor. It’s a bit on the short side at around 2 hours to complete, but it has a “Try Harder” mode for you crazy people that like a good challenge and want to replay it. I’d definitely say Tcheco is worth the price of admission.
