(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Now, I’m not going to lie. I’ve never really been a big fan of card games. I don’t actually dislike CCGs, but it takes a lot for me to really get into them. But every so often when the stars are all aligned, one comes into my life that I fall in love with……Bring in Card Hog. Card Hog is, well it’s a card game of course. A roguelike card game that has you moving around a board playing as a “Hero Pig”. The object is simple. Last as long as you can before your inevitable demise. What I really liked is that every match is completely different. One run could take you 30+ minutes to get through and the next time you can be taken out in under 5. It all depends on the cards you are dealt. Of course, there’s a lot of strategy involved too. Even though the cards are random, it’s up to you on which moves you plan on making. I’m really surprised at how much I’ve been digging Card Hog. It’s one of those games that really start to open up the more you play it. There’s several different game modes, permanent upgrades, and quite a bit more. I’m glad to see a new mobile game by Aur “SnoutUp” Garuolis. I missed the charm that his games bring to the industry. Even if you’re like me and not a fan of card games, Card Hog is definitely worth “hogging” all your time. (Heh. Pig puns)
Card Hog is also in this week’s SNAPP Roundup!
