(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)
The Savior’s Gang is a level-based game by the indie team at Catness Game Studios. You play as “The Savior”, a powerful entity that is trapped between the world and heaven, as you guide your faithful followers to the promise land. Controls are easy with a v-stick to move your worshippers where you want to go and a stick to change camera angles. The object is to guide numerous followers through dangerous levels full of traps, disasters, and anything else thrown at you. The more survivors you end the level with, the better. As you progress, you’ll be able to upgrade different powers/abilities. The Savior’s Gang is absolutely hilarious to play. There’s something funny about trying to control a crowd of people through death triggers. The writing is also top-notch. My only issue is that the text in-game is a bit small on the iPhone. It’s nothing that should worry you, but I did find myself squinting to read at certain points. Regardless, The Savior’s Gang a genius mix of seriousness and the absurd. An absolute gem and a must-have on iOS.
