Skelewton’s First Law is an odd little physics-based game that recently released on the App Store by indie developer, Youmaku. The story goes that Sir Isaac Newton wakes up to find himself a skeleton who can now manipulate gravity in the afterlife. The object is to collect apples for your now living, self portrait. Apples are all over the place. Floors, walls, ceilings. You collect them by changing up the gravity in the room and letting Newton fall to where the apples are. There are all sorts of traps laying around, so things get a bit tricky in the later rooms. Things also get confusing once you spin the room around a few times. Luckily, you can look at which way Newton’s hair is falling to see which way gravity is pulling. I will say that the controls are a bit wonky. There’s three different control schemes, but I felt the on-screen buttons worked the best for me. Skelewton’s First Law may be a bit rough around the edges, but it’s still worth checking out. The pixel art is pretty good and the voiceover work is hilarious. There’s leaderboards, multiplayer, and even “Newton’s Grave” with new outfits and cute little surprises. With so much going on right now on the App Store, don’t overlook this little game.
