(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
The Sea of Death is a story-driven adventure game by Hoit Studio that was released last April on the App Store. You play as a ship repairer that gets in an accident and ends up in a strange place with amnesia. From there, you set off on an adventure to find your core memories and hopefully make it out alive. This game sat on my phone for a while before I finally fired it up. It turned out to be a pretty solid title. The game does a good job with keeping things fresh throughout the story. There’s multiple mechanics and even some puzzle elements mixed throughout your journey. It was a nice change instead of just having a joystick and a couple buttons. The story itself changes depending on the choices you make. There are 8 different core memories to unlock and 8 different endings. I was pleasantly surprised with this game. I only played through one ending, but I had a good time while playing. The story started off pretty slow, but hooked me in midway through. So, if you’re looking for something a little different, give The Sea of Death a try!
