Madness/Endless iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Madness/Endless is a top-down action stealth game by indie developer, Anthony Romano.  You play as an unnamed hero as you try to sneak your way through dark corridors and pretty much eliminate anything that moves. Madness/Endless is a dark game with an even darker story. The game was built specifically for mobile, so the mechanics are fairly easy to grasp. You use the on-screen joystick to scoot along the walls, then drag/drop across the screen to attack. The gameplay loop is fairly unique also. Even though it’s a stealth game and you’re sneaking around while trying not to be noticed, you are still forced to attack to keep your sanity. Losing your sanity is game over. So, you’re trying to be stealthy, while also being quick. It’s a neat concept that keeps the suspense going while playing. I’ve really been enjoying Madness/Endless so far. The gritty/dark tone of the game mixed with the whole sanity concept is a nice mix and the attack/dash mechanic is really satisfying when busting out combos. The story has 4 unique bosses and a couple of different endings. And once you finish that, there’s an endless mode with procedurally generated levels to keep you playing. The game may be a bit difficult for some, but for anyone looking for a little bit of challenge, Madness/Endless is definitely worth picking up!
