(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Project V90 is a side-scrolling action platformer that was recently released on the App Store by VG90 Studio. You play as an unnamed hero as you hack, slash, and shoot your way through each level. I’m honestly not sure where to start with this game. I will say that I applaud the developer for their attempt to make something a little different. I liked the variety in gameplay in Project VG90. Levels varied from running/platforming, to side scrolling shmup-style gameplay. The game even has some decent looking bosses at the end of each level. Unfortunately, most of that is ruined with some rough level design and finicky controls. I felt like I was constantly dying due to missed joystick inputs. (Adding a floating joystick may help this issue) Project V90 has some neat things going for it, but unfortunately it still misses the mark. Even if the controls were fixed, the game still needs a bit more time in the oven.
