Every so often a game comes around and surprises the hell out of me. Left Turn Legend by Raymond Lin is one of those games! At first glance, I thought that this game was going to be just some shallow hyper-casual game with a NASCAR-style theme. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Left Turn Legend is an arcade racing game with a unique mechanic. The vehicle only turns left when you tap the screen, so the object is to get as far as you can without totaling your car. It sounds simple at first, but it takes some skill to master. Not to mention the track is full of power-ups, different hazards, and reckless opponents. What impressed me the most about this game is the level of depth added. As you progress, you’ll unlock new sponsors that have their own unique abilities, new vehicles, new power–ups, and more. I’m not a NASCAR fan, but the little levels of detail really stand out in this game. Little things like sponsors having their own backstory, or the ticker going across the top of the screen, or how you can customize each vehicle however you want. There is a lot going on for such a simple arcade game. And that’s not even counting the other 2 game modes or the 40+ achievements! If you’re a fan of endless runners or arcade racing games, definitely pick Left Turn Legend up!
