(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
AquaStrike is a platformer/dual-stick shooter that was recently released on the App Store by developer Denis Bors. The game has you controlling a submarine as you make your way through underwater caves while shooting down enemies and…..picking up trash? AquaStrike is actually a pretty fun game at its core. The dual-stick controls get the job done and the game has some pretty cool level designs. As you progress, you’ll collect stars which you can use to upgrade your hull, weapons, and magnet. AquaStrike definitely isn’t perfect. I found my submarine getting hung up easily in some of the narrower caves and with so much going on at once, the screen can look cluttered at times. I will say that I had to laugh that the game has you picking up trash floating in the ocean to save the environment, yet your submarine is littering the ocean floor with spent bullet casings. Regardless, AquaStrike is a solid game with some fun ideas. The game could use an IAP to get rid of the ads (they aren’t too bad), but is still worth checking out.
