(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Bumballon is a pixel art adventure game by Angelo Nobre that was recently released on the App Store under the Crescent Moon/Ratalaika Games umbrella. You play as Bumballon as you travel through 7 different worlds to try and save Princess Moon. This is one of those games that are simple to play, but hard to master. This is one of those barrel shoot-style games where Bumballon shoots and bounces his way through each level. Tapping on the screen usually shoots Bumballon, while holding your finger on the screen slows him down. The first world was pretty simple and had me a little worried about repetitiveness. Luckily, things start picking up in the Crystal Garden world. The level designs get really crazy as you progress through the next few worlds and had me struggling to get through some of the levels. All in all, Bumballon is a fun little adventure. The pixel art is well done and the overall theme is charming. There may not be a bunch of extras outside of some new skins, but that’s not the route the developer was taking with this title. Bumballon is just a solid retro-style game with some fun gameplay.
Bumballon is also in this week’s SNAPP Roundup!
