(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Dashy Smash is an endless runner-style game that was recently released on the App Store by indie developer Crash Invaders. The object of Dashy Smash is to get as far as possible before you eventually hit something. You control a head/face by tapping on the left and right side of the screen as your character rises up an endless cavern. It’s a simple concept that’s done almost flawlessly. During each run, you’ll be met with anything from spiders, cannons, electrical wires, and more. The further you get on your run, the more obstacles get thrown at you. As you progress, you’ll unlock tons of different power-ups and upgrades that you can purchase with the coins that you pick up in game. Dashy Smash is a breath of fresh air and a near perfect endless runner. There are tons of unlockables, unique character abilities, beautiful pixel art, and a really tight control scheme. Most of all, the game is fun to play. The only hiccup that I’ve come across are the broken leaderboards. When clicking on the tab, it only pulls up GameCenter itself. That can easily be patched I’m sure. Regardless, if you’re a fan of endless runners or just like quirky arcade games, Dashy Smash needs to be checked out!
