(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
NothingDoor is a pixel art puzzle game that was recently released on the App Store by Adam Frank and Kathleen Light. In this game you play as a little goblin guy that is trying to get through the Nothing Door. I’m not sure why you are trying to get through it, but nothing is allowed through except for you. Each level consists of a handful of characters (living and dead) that you will have to destroy with the items in hand before entering the Nothing Door. Characters can only be destroyed in certain ways. Live characters can be destroyed with knives, while dead characters can only be destroyed with potions. The only way to pass through the door is to have all characters destroyed and items used. “Nothing” can be left behind. Nothing Door starts off fairly easy, but becomes pretty tricky by the time you get to the second world. New characters and items are added and things get more strategic. I’ve been having some fun with this game so far. The pixel art is well done and I love the dark theme. There’s not much to the game outside of what you see. There’s a few boss fights to keep things fresh, but that’s about it. Nothing Door is just a solid puzzle game with no shenanigans. If you’re a fan of strategy or puzzle games, definitely check this one out!
