(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Blades of Deceron is a side-scrolling medieval RPG that was recently released by Dreamon Studio. The game has you controlling an aspiring gladiator and going on a journey through the continent of Deceron. The first thing I noticed when firing up this game for the first time is the level of depth that’s involved. Shortly after a fairly deep character customization screen, you are quickly thrown into the valley of Brar. From there, it’s basically up to you what to do. You can visit farms and do missions for them, recruit soldiers, conquer outposts, you name it. I will say that I found myself a bit lost for the first hour or so. There isn’t much hand-holding, so I ended up fighting any person that I ran across and pretty much dying every time. Speaking of fighting. It’s all real-time with some really fun physics involved. Blades of Deceron is still in early access, so there’s some minor bugs here and there. But, for the most part the game feels complete. I’ve only sunk in a couple hours so far and am absolutely hooked. Blades of Deceron is medieval madness mixed with funky physics. There’s tons of depth and strategy along with some really fun fighting moments. If you’re a fan of RPGs, I highly recommend this one!
Blades of Deceron is also in this week’s SNAPP Roundup!
