(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time/money.)
Hoop League Tactics is a pixel art sports management sim game by indie developer, Koality Games. You take control of one of several basketball teams as you lead them to the championship. This is one of those games that get better the more you play it. As you play through a season, you can draft players, negotiate contracts, upgrade player’s skill trees, and more. I’ll admit. The game is a lot deeper than I originally expected it to be. There is so much that can Me managed. What I really grew to love is that gameplay is turn-based. This makes for a completely unique experience. My only complaint is that there is no Detroit team! Luckily, you can customize/edit team names, uniforms, player appearance, and even court colors. So, I was quick to create a “Detroit Snapps” team! If you can’t tell, I absolutely love this game. It’s unique, has a fair amount of depth, and can be played in short bursts or long sessions. Even if you’re not a fan of sports games, Hoop League Tactics is well worth checking out.
