(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. It usually means that we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)
Blight Night: You Are Not Safe is a top-down survival horror game that recently released on the App Store by Clevyr Inc. You play as Sam Barstow after he wakes up and finds out that the entire world has been overcome by an outbreak. I’ve got to say, I’m really impressed with this game so far. It has the look and feel of an 80’s horror flick. It’s dark, gritty, and even scary at times. I can’t help but reminisce of late PS1/early PS2 era games when I play this. Blight Night just has that certain charm to it that really pulls you in. It can’t help but relate to what’s going on right now in real life with the actual outbreak in the game starting off as a flu-like virus. Story aside, the game plays beautifully. The open-world concept lets you do some exploring and puzzle solving which keeps things from feeling too linear. There’s also some mild RPG elements with upgrades and skill points. The only issue that I could find is that I could t get my MFI controller to work with the game. It would recognize it, but not work for some reason. Also, the game isn’t universal which is kind of a bummer. Those issues aside, Blight Night is a MUST-HAVE for survival horror fans (and I don’t use that term often). Do yourself a favor and get this game.
Blight Night: You Are Not Safe is also in this week’s iOS Roundup!
