Be Brave, Barb iOS SNAPP Review!

(SNAPP Reviews aren’t really full-fledged game reviews as much as they are just a way for us to give you a quick “heads-up” on whether a game is good or not. Usually we haven’t finished the game yet, but have played a good enough chunk to know if it’s worth your time or money.)

Be Brave, Barb is an all new platformer to be released on the App Store by Thomas K Young (Dadish/Fowlst). The game has you playing as Barb. A depressed cactus that has all their good vibes by……well, by a bad vibed clout cat. What else could it be? So, your job is to set out with Barb to collect affirmations and cheer them up! Be Brave, Barb is a really unique platformer with some of the best level design I’ve seen this year. Levels are full of quirky obstacles and gravity bending puzzles. You never really know what is going to be thrown at you next. Barb auto-walks, so all you have to really worry about is jumping for the most part. Things seem a bit easy at first, but it doesn’t take long for the kitchen sink to get thrown at you. I found myself taking multiple tries to get through some levels. I’ve been having so much fun playing this game so far. Be Brave, Barb is charming, wholesome, and has a witty, but meaningful overall message. Most importantly, the game is fun. There’s no timers or crazy micro transactions outside of a single IAP to get rid of the ads. Be Brave, Barb is a breath of fresh air in a sometimes toxic industry. Do yourself a favor and pick this game up.

Be Brave, Barb is also in this week’s SNAPP Roundup!
